Pencil sketch #1 in the '5 Free Sketches' series. For ~mizzillan, who wanted Canderous, and left me to my own devices. I almost drew you Canderous in medieval dress (a la Knights in Tights), but there was this bit he said in K1 that I was rather taken with:

"I remember a time when I could do anything I wanted... Kill, maim, murder... It was all the same to me. But now... now that I'm older, I can look back and regret.... Ha! Good one. That's like a warrior should. Like what you see in a Mandalorian. In a Mandalorian... I'm not even sure what that is anymore. The Mandalorian are gone, defeated by the Republic and swept away by time.I look back and regret all the chances I had as a warrior, and then all the chances I've had since then. I shouldn't be getting like this, not when so many other things are happening... but...It feels like... like something has changed inside and I don't know what it is."


So I decided to do a serious drawing instead. I hope you don't mind. :) All in pencils (which kept breaking...), but I edited it on Corel to lighten the background a little bit so that the older Canderous would stand out.

Mizzillan did a very nicely coloured version of the picture. Please click HERE to view it. :)

Oh, and for the record... I am never drawing another Basilisk war droid ever again. :laughing: The hull wasn't too bad (although I think I messed it up), but the feed/hosing/whatever the hell that is! God! that was insane. [chuckle] I brought that upon myself, I did.

I really love seeing your sketches, they rock so hard. This is fantastic, I'm so happy someone demanded for you to draw Candyman.
And as for never drawing a basilisk again, you sure? This is really nice looking, and I knew what it was when I first looked at it (which doesn't happen a lot *slow*) I also like the difference in the lines, too :D.

Very nice drawing Far! Just one thing catches my eye, Candyman's face looks a wee bit flat to me? Might be me though, but I really love the mech in the back, very very nicely drawn! :)

Uh yeah, it looks flat. :laughing: I tried giving him cheekbones originally, but they made him look vaguely grandfather-ish. I dunno, maybe it's just me too. [chuckle] Here, have a look at this fuller-faced version and tell me which looks better.

And I hate the bloody droid. :laughing: It looks like some kind of mutant squid fused to the back portion of a shrimp.

Thank you. :D The 'difference in the lines' was what caused my mechanical pencil lead to snap every five seconds or so - because I pressed really hard when doing the dark bits (and drew over them, over and over). And yeah, I'm pretty sure I won't be doing a basilisk again... well, in the very near future, anyway. [chuckle] Can you imagine colouring the hosing? Ghastly!

Hm... I think.. I say think... cause it's too hot here so I can't trust myself today, i'm melting! But back on topic, i think his forehead should be a bit more rounded and that the right cheek perhaps could be a bit more sloped, to give his face a bit more depth? Still it's a good drawing =)
