I have crooked, hypermobile fingers. That is to say, all of my digits (excluding my right thumb) automatically collapse backward at the proximal interphalangeal joint - or, in the case of my left thumb, at the carpometacarpal joint (ie. where the thumb meets the rest of the hand).
Because it's not exactly a common thing (and far less common for so many digits to be hypermobile), most people I know tend to treat my hands as some kind of freakish, foreign, alien object. Four out of five people will shrink back in revulsion and horror when I do my Broken Fingers routine, or do the Wriggling Worm act. One out of five will be morbidly fascinated and insist on grabbing my hand and poking my joints - and then scream or make similar noises of shock as they feel my joints give way underneath their fingers. About 4.5 out of five think I'm some sort of mutated freak with deformed hands.
Well hey, you know, *I* don't think of it as a crippling malformation. Okay, sure, my fingers have a nasty tendency to get jammed when I play really fast pieces on the piano and they come down wrong, but other than that, the hypermobility isn't a handicap of any sort; in fact, it can actually come in quite handy - in that I can pull off weird feats on the piano that straight-fingered folks can't. And they can do about everything else yours can do. So quit treating me like a freak of some sort already.
(And yeah, this was an excuse to practice drawing hands - which I can't do to save my life).
Is this *your* hand in particular or did you just draw a random hand? I almost felt that the fifth digit seperated a bit far from the others but when I placed my own hand in that position I see that mine does the same.
You should see my toes. Everyone says they're stubby. I just think that I'm a damn hobbit.

That's my hand, crooked fingers and all, except maybe that the middle finger is very, very slightly less round. And I have a big span for my hand size - my thumb and little finger form a perfect, flat 180-degree line, and spans 22.8 cm (a compound major 3rd on the piano).

Never seen/heard of that before, looks and sounds freaky like that. Your color choice for the tones and stuff is great, and I think everyone can't draw hands, it's just part of human nature. This looks really great though .
My elbows are double jointed so I can bend it a little the other way.. it really freaks people out becuase I do it on reflex sometimes when I'm leaning on my arm like on the floor and stuff.
Your ability to draw freakish hands shall magnify with this practice!
Nice piece though, I knew a guy in high school who had the same abnormality with his hands, he used to use it to freak out his classmates when he was bored.
Lovely coloring, darth. Freakish hands? I am definitely one of the 4/5. *grin* I almost heard the sount of your "Broken fingers" act and I've got goosebumps... ^^

[chuckle] Yeah, my thumb sort of folds *into* my hand at the joint (when flexed) so that it's about perpendicular to the bone it's attached to - if that makes any sense.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

For some reason it reminds me of the X-Files episode with Eugene Tombs.
Awesome painting though, you got skills.
