Description
Large, nocturnal, and clothed in blotchy green plumage, the Kakapo is the world's only flightless parrot. The birds are native to New Zealand and was the islands' third most common species, but were driven almost to extinction by human colonisation (from Polynesia and Europe) and introduction of mammalian predators. Now, however, with conservation efforts, the Kakapo population has risen again, although they remain classified as critically endangered. As of June 2011, there are 131 Kakapos in existence.

I told Tank Magnet to pick an animal, any animal that she wanted, and I'd draw it for her. Well, we couldn't decide on any one animal since there were apparently "so many!"; in the end I declared, "The hell with it, I'm drawing you a Kakapo." And that was that.
Mr. Crankypants named by TM because he looks like an animal crime boss of some sort, she says. Personally, I think she's been playing too much Godfather.
Drawn with Caran d'Ache sepia pencil, then scanned and painted on Corel Photo Paint. (I was aiming for the vintage illustration plates look). Photo references used, of course.

The guys need more fanart! Really lovely style and realism, too.
