Never Can Say Goodbye by DarthFar Never Can Say Goodbye by DarthFar
RIP Michael Jackson (29 August 1958 – 25 June 2009).

I hate jumping on bandwagons and inflicting my viewers with something that's been done ad nauseum, but you can't grow up listening to somebody and not feel a sense of loss at hearing of their passing, either. In an attempt to make amends, I picked a reference that nobody else was likely to draw. I'm not sure if he ever really grew up -

Whatever else he might have been, Michael Jackson was the King of Pop, brimming with talent. If nowhere else, his death will be greatly felt in the musical community.

Title taken from the 1971 Jackson Five single.

Charcoal brush, Corel.

This is stunning. :sniff:....

The wee man that grew into a legend.
He never really WAS a child was he?

The world did not deserve such a pure heart.
RIP Michael.

You're welcome. And I love the quote you made about him not really growing up. If you listen to the song he made called "Childhood" I think that everyone would realize that he truly didn't.

Great job, as always. This is how I choose to remember him. This is the time period I remember for his music too. I know. I'm dating myself.

I agree with :icondragonwinter: --this was the genuine article, the hypertalented kid we all came to know first... And for some of us, this is the face we'll remember as genuinely his--wonderful choice of reference, Far, and a stunning capture of the boy who would be King...of Pop. RIP MJ. :rose:

Beautiful! I miss him too.

Since his passing I hear Jackson Five music and his solo stuff on the radio all the time now. It would have been nice if he had gotten more respect while he was here.

The minute I saw this I started singing "Ben..." :sniff:

Just like what you said, everything else aside - the man had musical talent up to wazoo and that will be sorely missed.

Very well done. He would have been extremely touched and impressed by this.
I wasn't a big fan, but like everyone else I was shocked. I hope he can find peace now.

This is the face of his I loved most, even though the music I loved was dated later. His talent was a rare gift in the world and is a big loss.

Brought tears to my eyes. I remember my mom freaking out because I declared I was to marry Micheal when I grew up. I was in 2nd grade I think, watching the Jackson Five, long before the endless illnesses of all sorts, spiritual, physical and emotional.

Thank you so much... for being you..and doing what you do all so very well.

Thank you for doing this, it's an amazing way to say goodbye and a wonderful homage to the artist who was such a great influence to so many people... I still can't assimilate his death, he was young and still seemed to promise so much :(
The painting in particular is very special because it reflects that more important and geniune part of himself- his youth, his essence.. :)

Yeah, that was the first thing I heard in the morning. Not "good morning", but "Michael Jackson's dead." I thought it was a joke in poor taste.

Thank you very much. :)

It's a wonderful work for a great singer :) No one can deny he did much for the music and was an idol for a whole generation. I was too young to remember his greatest time, but nevertheless I admire his work. He's one of a very few people who I would call a real superstar.
One more thing: I think it's heart warming how fans are on the streets, celebrating their star and dance to his musik :)

I remember my first exposure to Michael Jackson. I was eight, and it was the 3D version of Captain EO at Disneyland.

And he *is* one of the most awesome, most influential superstars of our time. It's not just the music, but the performances that accompany it. :D I suppose a testament of just how popular and far-reaching his music was how people all over the world reacted to his death. (Even my mother's recreation group knew about him - they spent the whole morning arguing about his 1996 concert here).

My mother doesn't know him aside from his appearence. She doesn't ven know 'Thriller' :eyepopping: OK, I'm sure she's heard it, but she doesn't remember the name ;)
Anyway, of course he *still* is a superstar. His music has influenced many lifes, people will never forget him.
