The Fall of Enjolras

Description

Speedpaint, about 3h. I'll never have the discipline for Mynti's sketch-a-day, but there's no reason why I can't randomly hurl paint about every now and then.

I've come down with a pretty bad case of Les Misérables fever. The musical, I mean, not the book. (Okay, maybe *not* the soppy bits [makes a face]). Given that I live on the wrong side of the world, I'll probably never see it live, but thanks to digital technology, it doesn't mean that I'll never see it in any form either, if you catch my drift. ;) That said, my favourite scene would be the aftermath of the final battle, where all the students are lying dead on the barricade, and it rotates to reveal Enjolras on the other side, lying atop his red flag - easily the coolest scene I have seen in a musical. And - because I'm morbid like that - I was idly wondering what his death would look like from the *army's* side of the barricade.

[If you don't know what the hell I'm talking about, check out this excellent performance: [link] ]

[No, I don't know where he was shot. Not that I suppose it matters...]

Not based on any actor in particular, although I was listening to Michael Maguire singing "Do You Hear the People Sing?", so I'm not sure how much of *that* influence seeped in.

Les Misérables written by Victor Hugo, and adapted for the stage by Claude-Michel Schönberg, Alain Boublil, and Herbert Kretzmer.
