Welcome to the Madhouse by DarthFar Welcome to the Madhouse by DarthFar
I just needed to loosen up, both my strokes and myself. LOL. Add to that sleep deprivation on account of a sudden peak in family celebratory activities, and the brain tends to go... strange places.

If it isn't already obvious, I've been playing way too much Batman: Arkham Asylum. :dohtwo: Way, way, way too much. And I have the left-hand cramps to show for it, from the excessive keybashing.

Batman created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger.

Wow, this is something really different coming from you. I... I can't stop looking at it. Love the contrast of the reds and blues.

VERY nice. It reminds me somewhat of the comic book by the same name- that had a sort of paranoid, skittering inkblot style, and this captures the same sensations of inescapable violence and chaotic thoughts.

As usual--don't know the game, but DO know your talent, Far, and am a fan of Batman vs. Joker--always an epic confrontation! This is creepy in a great way: the Dark Knight's contemplative, almost troubled posture, the maniacle light in the Joker's crazy eye; the stark slashes of light and dark throughout... Awesome mood, terrific technique. Instant :+fav:!

I can almost hear the Joker's insane commentary again... and I like it.

Steam: "FAR now playing Batman Arkham Asylum" .... "FAR now playing Batman Arkham Asylum" .... "FAR now playing Batman Arkham Asylum" ... "FAR now playing Batman Arkham Asylum"... "FAR now playing Batman Arkham Asylum"...

I had not noticed Far. *l*

Nice to see you loosening up with your paintings, relaxing ain't it?

I'm about to play this, but as a die-hard comic fan part of me is nervous... I've heard they do a good job, and I know the voice talent is top notch, but my "favorites" in secondary (i.e., not what they were created in) mediums get me nervous. Great art, btw....

Oh yeah, I know what you mean. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about a Ghostbusters video game either when the game came out, though it turned out to be pretty fun and in the spirit of the original movies, even if the combat was somewhat repetitive. I'll just say this: don't expect Arkham Asylum to be anything like the comic book, and you'll be fine. Sort of. No particularly challenging boss fights, but it is still pretty fun, and it helps that the game is just gorgeous.

It doesn't need to be like the Arkham Asylum graphic novel, but I do want it to be consistent with how the characters are portrayed in print. I do need to play it however, as part 2 features Selina, and she and Bruce are one of 2 fictional couples I am 100% nerdy about.

Ha ha ha, one of us! One of us! One of us! Arkham Asylum will never let you go now... at least, not until the end of the game anyway. :D

And this is amazing! I love all the different marks in this and all the different colours! A very moody piece indeed. :)

LOL! I actually read the comic five years ago (it was the 15th Anniversary edition), but it wasn't until Steam's 75% sale two weeks back that I got the game - and proceeded to play the hell out of it. Never thought I'd take to a game that *didn't* involve guns *or* killing people, but it was surprisingly good. (Except for that terrible "showdown" with Killer Croc, which was like the Batman equivalent of dealing with a very unruly pet. And I did manage to kill people with the Batclaw, so that's something).

Thanks very much! Make room for me in the cell, will you?

Hee hee, *pats her copy* I've got that gem right here myself. :D The artwork is indeed awesome and you can be forgiven for coming to the game much later, after all, now I envy you for all the things you've yet to discover! :D

Ha ha ha ha! I know what you mean, although those parts in the sewers are pretty darn freaky. I just wanted to run everywhere (without being dragged under... never quite managed it). :(

Oh yes, you can join the cell club, we've got [straight]jackets! Ha ha ha! :D

The sewers... lol. You know, Croc's lair spooked me out initially because y'know, they'd been leading you to believe that there would be some kind of epic confrontation with the monster right from the beginning of the game, and I was thinking, "God, what are they going to throw at Batman??" - And then of course he showed up, and there was that prompt to throw the Batarang, at which point I realised, "That's all I have to do? Throw one at him every time he shows up, as if he's a very unruly, jumpy dog? Bad boy! down!" It just stopped being unnerving right there and then.

Ah! straitjackets! excellent! :D [Grabs the acid green one]

Ha ha ha, I know what you mean, it did get samey after a while... but still creepy though! I know, no epic battle? What in blue-blazers be this trickery?!

Oh, the green one is my favourite. :D
